Are you looking for a way to support students interested in farmworker justice?

The SFA Encuentro is a decades-old grassroots organizing tradition that brings together students and young people from across the country to sharpen our organizing and leadership skills, ground ourselves in the Coalition of Immokalee Workers’ (CIW) rich history, form intimate bonds with farmworker and student leaders, and strategize for sustained and creative action in the Campaign for Fair Food.

Right now, we are fundraising to make this Encuentro possible. Your support is vital for the Campaign for Food and the continuation of student solidarity with farmworkers. Through this fundraiser we hope to cover student travel expenses, admissions, meals, art supplies and equipment used for this weekend.

At the Encuentro, students will have the opportunity to build community with farmworker and student leaders from across the country who are part of a growing farmworker solidarity network. The weekend will kick-off on the evening of Friday, October 10th and close on Monday, October 13th—rooting our Indigenous Peoples' Day celebrations in the movement for farmworker justice and the Campaign for Fair Food.

During this weekend, students will be able to experience:

Workshops, skill-building, solidarity sessions, and strategy discussions led by current and former student organizers who are enacting change on their campuses and in their communities—as well as farmworker leaders in the national and historic Fair Food movement;
Protest art-making, screen printing, and Cafe Cultura—a student, youth, and community showcase of visual art, poetry, dance, spoken word, and culture;
Tour of the Florida Modern-Day Slavery Museum and discussions on ongoing forced labor within the agricultural industry—led by the farmworker leaders who have uncovered these cases;
