Library Giving Day 2025

For Library Giving Day last year, the Library Foundation of Spokane County fundraised with a goal to give books to kids and teens in Spokane County to kick off summer reading. The fundraising goal was met and each youth who registered for the summer reading program received a new book of their very own that they can keep.

In 2024, over 1,500 children registered for summer reading. SCLD saw a 33% increase in total registration and a 59% increase in school-aged (ages 5–17) participants over the previous year. The largest group of youth participants were in grades 2, 3 and 4, the most critical grades for learning to read.

Let’s do it again!

For 2025, the Library Foundation has again taken on the mission to give well-suited, reading-level books, and expand the program to every kid and teen who registers for SCLD’s summer reading.  This year’s summer reading program has expanded to include preschool readers (0-5) as well as the 5–17-year-old age range.

To achieve this, the Foundation has set a goal of $5,000 for Library Giving Day.

Your donation to Library Giving Day goes directly to covering the costs of providing books to kids this summer.

The benefits of reading can last a lifetime, beginning in early childhood and continuing through the senior years. If you’re passionate about reading, please donate and help spread the word.
