2025 Support Safe Haven Space's Programs

Safe Haven Space is committed to offering mental health and well-being services to refugee students and their families. Mental health has a harmful stigma prevalent in many communities around the world, especially among the refugee population. After being forced out of their original communities, it becomes harder for refugee students to function in both school and life settings without healing from the trauma they encounter before, during, and after their transition to the United States of America. We want to help them succeed in American life and make their adjustment to cultural changes easier through school programs and community engagement. Your contribution will help fund impactful programs in three schools and one in the resettlement agency, ensuring refugee youth and young adults receive vital resources they need to succeed in their new lives.

School-Based Refugee Student Support
This program helps refugee middle and high school students in the DMV area build resilience and cope with challenges through mental health support tailored to their cultural needs. We work with schools and partners to provide group sessions focused on stress management and mental health literacy.

Collaborative Mental Health Integration
In partnership with resettlement agencies, this program integrates mental health support into community programs, offering workshops during career, education, and healthcare events to address mental health stigma in culturally sensitive ways.
