Proteus is a 501(c)3 non-profit and a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) that was established in 1979 in Iowa. The organization added the Agricultural Health Program, a primary care initiative, in Iowa in 1991. Proteus expanded the NFJP and NFTP services into Nebraska in 2010, and into Indiana in 2013.
