The Students for Haiti Solidarity at UCLA is about to embark on a trip down to Port-au-Prince, Haiti over spring break from Friday, March 23rd to Saturday, March 31st. Ten university students will engage with several grassroots organizations across the country that reach different aspects of communities including education, health, and women's rights.
The motto of our student organization is: "College students working with college students" which is why we primarily focus on fundraising to send graduating high school students to college in Haiti. Attending university is often an extreme financial burden for these students and their families, and thus, the funding that we receive is critical to enabling these incredibly bright students to access higher education.
Over the past two years, we have raised the funds to send thirteen students to university. With your support, we will continue to fund the rest of their degree.
These students desire to study everything from Engineering, Nursing, Teaching, Business Management, and so much more, all with the same dream of paying it forward by using their education to give back to their own communities. They have already taken the first steps to enact change in their communities and will continue to make our world a better place with your donation. Every donation makes a huge difference, so thank you in advance for any help you can give.
If you are interested in more information regarding the students we are fundraising for, please check out our website. In addition, if you wish to stay updated during our trip, we will be posting daily on our blog. Our main beneficiary is the grassroots organization called SOPUDEP, which is led by the ever inspiring Rea Dol, who has been acknowledged domestically and internationally.
