The dominant ways people with class and socioeconomic privilege try to improve our world don’t drive equitable, systemic, community-based change.

Across the country, issues like homelessness, racial and gender violence and injustice, food insecurity, and the impacts of the climate crisis plague our communities. Even for those of us who are affected less by inequities, feels impossible to stand by and allow injustice to continue. But how do we bridge the gap between whatever resources we have to give and bringing about actual change?

This question can be particularly challenging for folks early in their career who are still trying to find their place in a professional, geographic, and social community. We are more aware than ever of the fragility of political gains and the magnitude of the racial, educational, ability, gender, geographical inequities our society faces, but we've also come to see that many of the ways people with resources try to improve our world don’t drive equitable, systemic, community-based change.

This is where YCore comes in. Our program:

1) provides important, capacity-building skills to local nonprofits that are fighting inequity, while

2) teaching and training young professionals to be committed partners and advocates working towards community-based change.
