Troy has been incarcerated for eight years. His daughter is nine, and he went to prison when she was just nine months old. “I missed her whole life,” Troy admits. “Her first day of school, her first time getting her hair done — I missed everything.”
That’s why the Father-Daughter Dance is so meaningful. “It’s our first memory together, our first event. Just being able to enjoy each other’s time means everything.” His daughter, he says, is his whole world: “My daughter is my life.”
Though he’s worn suits before, putting one on still carries meaning. “It brings me back to who I was on the streets,” he says. “It feels like me.” More than anything, Troy is grateful for his daughter’s presence: “At nine years old, she’s taking the time to be here for me. I need that right now.”
Give today to help Troy share an unforgettable night with his daughter!
