Story
We all want to live comfortably settled in a nice home, surrounded by loving people and able to fulfill our passions. But, rising costs of everyday goods and housing are making this way of life unattainable for many in Illinois – especially widowed, low-income and working class seniors, as well as those with disabilities.
Seniors’ are finding their hard-earned savings to be meager, and people with disabilities can’t find work that keeps up with the rising cost of living. Some of these individuals are turning to family members for shelter and basic needs. However, many do not have loved ones to help, and are in desperate need of a home before they’re left homeless.
Embrace Living Communities provides seniors and people with disabilities across Chicago with safe homes and support services to ensure they can live with dignity as they age. Every year, we’re helping new residents move into our 25 communities in Illinois and make them home. Our continued support is crucial after someone moves in, especially in the first few years when most people are uncertain, weary and overwhelmed by their everyday needs.
‘Support the Move to Better Living’ is an opportunity for our supporters to help our newest residents get back on their feet by contributing to fund services and products they need to live comfortably.
Even a small donation can make a big difference in our residents’ transition to affordable housing. The table below shows how far your dollars can go.
By donating to our campaign you can help residents like Dee turn an apartment into a home. In this video, she shows us her apartment that the Embrace Living Communities team at Greencastle of Mulford helped her decorate.
