Harlem Free Fight Academy is a 501c3 nonprofit providing free Brazilian jiu jitsu and boxing classes to teens in Harlem. As we train and connect with our students, we mentor them and find opportunities for them to succeed both in and out of the gym.

HFFA was founded by Rich Rodriguez early 2020. Before the COVID pandemic, he was teaching boxing and BJJ after school programs throughout NYC. But once quarantine was underway, Rich's students began to reach out, longing to participate in the combat sports they've grown to love while also venting their frustrations about their circumstances. Rich gathered his students for outdoor boxing classes, and eventually outdoor BJJ classes in Harlem Art Park, being among the first to return to training during that time. This led to seminars, self defense workshops, and the current partnership HFFA has with The Boys' Club of New York, helping to enrich each of their missions in the process.
