Emerson Elementary is a historically Black public school in Oakland Unified School District with a deep culture of community, collaboration, and centering support for our Black and Neurodivergent students. We pride ourselves in creating a school environment that uplifts our Black students and their families. Ongoing budget cuts have continued to strain the programs we are able to offer. This year, large district wide school site budget cuts have left us unable to fund our African American Male Achievement Program.

We are asking our community to help us raise the $58,000 needed to keep this program next school year so we can continue to help our Black Kings thrive  The AAMA program at Emerson empowers African American Kings grades 3-5 to thrive academically, build social emotional skills, and develop community through authentic family engagement and Black male mentorship.
