After collectively producing 75+ Broadway shows, eight collaborators of color saw the disparity in the seats at the tables where decisions were made. This world-class, Tony and Drama Desk award-winning team came together to re-imagine pathways for underrepresented communities to contribute as investors and producers in the commercial theater industry. The Industry Standard Group (TISG) was officially launched in October 2020 and has built strategic partnerships to transform the future of theatre production. Our mission is to create opportunities for those traditionally underrepresented and marginalized in the Broadway community to contribute to, invest in, and produce the highest-level projects in the commercial theatre industry.

Second Act Theatrical Capital (2ATC) is the first initiative built by TISG to disrupt and innovate on the restrictive models utilized in commercial theatre. Utilizing the SEC’s Regulation CF, we have created the only democratized investment portfolio for Broadway, where, for the first time, anyone can buy into the Broadway market and own part of this shared cultural asset. By building up a wider and more diverse base of stakeholders within the field, TISG contributes to the sustainability of Broadway as a whole and expands the runway of patronage to the arts. 

TISG is an organization committed to innovating, challenging, and revisioning the broken and antiquated producing models used in commercial theatre by asking the question – “Who gets to be a stakeholder on Broadway?” 2ATC answers that question, and (by building a seamless structure that fits into the current model of Broadway producing, lowering the barriers of entry for individual investors, mitigating collective risk across a roster of projects, and uniting a broad community to explore / navigate mission aligned work) offers a resounding reply that – “Broadway investing should be open to ALL!” 

We provide the community with:

• Educational opportunities, demystifying the commercial producing process
• Affinity spaces and community nights
• Investment opportunities that are more accessible

We aim to disrupt and transform the opaque norms of the commercial producing industry by expanding access, as well as distributing financial opportunity, power, and influence to those traditionally underrepresented and marginalized. This moves the field toward greater representation and a wider base of stakeholders. This type of progress provides a two-pronged value: greater diversity of perspectives AND more sustainability of our financing structures. The producing and fundraising model that is currently utilized on Broadway is on its last leg - with 2ATC, TISG offers a bold solution to a generational problem.
