Who We Are...

Established in 2022, Alternative Bridges is a non-profit organization serving minority seniors and adults with intellectual developmental disabilities (IDD) in the greater Charlotte Metro community. Our programming focuses on improving the quality of life for seniors and adults with IDD, promoting independence and self-determination, and advocating for their rights. Through our comprehensive programming and partnerships, we administer, coordinate, and evaluate activities to empower seniors to live independently and achieve greater well-being. Our organization's impact has been significant, making a positive difference in the lives of seniors and adults with intellectual developmental disabilities.

Why We Walk....

We walk because we believe that everyone deserves to live a full and independent life, regardless of their age or disability.

One of the ways we achieve our mission is through our annual ELIDD Walk. This event brings together people from all over the community to raise funds and awareness for our organization. It is a day of celebration and empowerment, as we come together to support the individuals we serve.

When we walk, we are not just raising money. We are also sending a message to the world that seniors and adults with intellectual developmental disabilities (IDD) are valuable members of our community. We are showing that they deserve to be included and celebrated, just like everyone else.
