Get moving with Merritt's Step Challenge! Monies raised from this challenge will benefit Shepherd's Clinic, an innovator in providing health care to the uninsured right here in Baltimore.
Challenge:
- Move! Accumulate as many steps as possible between Monday, November 9, and Wednesday, December 9. On December 9, participants will be asked to submit their step count to [email protected]. This should be a screenshot or picture of your total step count for the month.
- Fundraise! Ask your friends & family to support your efforts by donating to your personal fundraising page. Fundraising will end on December 9 at 11:59 PM.
How to get started:
- Create a fundraising page under Team Merritt. Once created, share your page's custom donation URL with your supporters!
- Track your steps. Steps can be tracked on your iPhone via the Health App or on an Andriod via the Step, Pacer Pedometer, or Step Tracker. Fitbits can also be used to track steps.

Submitting your steps:
- Take a screenshot or photo of your total step count from November 9 through December 9. This can be done in whatever app or tracker you used.
- Email [email protected] by December 15: include your total number of steps, your first and last name, and the step screenshots/photos.

Since 1991, Shepherd’s Clinic has been an innovator in providing health care for the uninsured. Provided services are available to patients living in nine zip codes in North Baltimore through the time, energy, and spirit of hundreds of dedicated volunteers. Patients are asked to donate $3 - $9 if possible. Most clinic patients (ages 19 - 64) fall under 200% of poverty and the majority of patients are working or live in a household with an employed individual.
Patient Impact: In 2019, their medical clinic’s patients identified as 81% African American, 1% Multi-Racial, 4% Asian, 3% Hispanic, and 11% Caucasian. 62% of patients identify as women. The average age of patients is 49. 85% of patients have more than one chronic disease. 67% of patients receive medications and of those, 85% are compliant in their medication adherence.
