National Philanthropy Day was conceived in the 1980’s to create a dedicated day to celebrate the positive impact of charitable giving, volunteering, and the philanthropic community. The CA Valley Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals was founded in 1987 and for 39 years has hosted the National Philanthropy Day Program. AFP is the official custodian with the direct line to a historic global legacy - somewhat the Academy Award of the philanthropy world! Winners of our chapter’s awards are etched into the local history of National Philanthropy Day, backed by an international professional network. No other organizations in our community with similar events represent the official National Philanthropy Day nor do they have the history of AFP.

AFP ascribes to the highest standards in the fundraising profession by striving to stimulate a world of generosity and positive social good through fundraising best practice. We empower individuals and organizations to practice ethical fundraising through professional education, networking, research and advocacy.
