For the last three years, Astoria Food Pantry and Free Store Astoria have been providing free resources to neighbors. This fall, we’re asking for your help to continue this program by donating to our We Keep Us Warm Fund!

Each week, volunteers distribute free clothing through our Free Store location on Steinway and by driving directly to NYCHA residences at Queensbridge Houses and Astoria Houses. As the cold weather sets in, these clothes have kept our neighbors—new and old—safe and warm.

As of October 16th, the NYC’s Mayor Office reports that there are “over 64,100 migrants still currently in the city’s care.” Unfortunately, the responses from Eric Adams, his administration, and city services have been completely inadequate. Our city’s unwillingness to provide basic needs and shelter to our new neighbors has, once again, resulted in our amazing community stepping up to help.

Last year, by working together with our community, we were able to provide winter gear for migrant families who were unprepared for their first NYC winter. This year, we’re hoping to do the same—but there are even more neighbors asking us for assistance with winter clothing.

Your donation will allow us to purchase highly requested cold weather clothing and gear to distribute to our neighbors: coats, boots, socks, thermals, gloves, hats, scarves, and much more.
