I had been looking for ways to get more involved and cemented into the Atlanta volunteer organization landscape, but I didn't know where to start.
Getting involved with Hands on Atlanta at the start has given me so many opportunities I would not have had just looking around myself. The type of coordination that goes into the activities that Hands on Atlanta plans and contributes to provide such structure to volunteers who want to give back but don't know where to start. The structure is also crucial to charities and nonprofit organizations who needs support and need help getting that support.
Over the last few months, I've been volunteering at Parklane Elementary School as part of the Hands-On Atlanta Discovery program. While I'm learning so much about how to coordinate volunteer activities, the most meaningful part has been being able to get to know the students. These students come to school on Saturday for enrichment activities, meals, and meeting other students from different schools around the area. We even took a field trip to the zoo! These kids look forward to the Discovery program each Saturday and it's beautiful to see that they can rely heavily on this structure.
Please join me in giving back to an organization that gives so much to so many by donating here or joining me on Saturday mornings at Parklane Elementary School!
