Hello everyone!
My name is Gia, and I’m proud to be a member of the Civic Leadership Program this year through Hands-On Atlanta. Born and raised in Atlanta and Riverdale, I have a deep love for my city and a strong desire to give back.
As an educator, my heart lies with our youth. My journey in service began in the summer of 2020 when I volunteered to pack meals for children in the East Point and College Park communities. The pandemic hit these kids hard, and it was a true blessing to support them and their families during such a challenging time. My commitment to helping others grew in 2021 at the Campbellton Community Garden, where I discovered my passion for gardening and a deeper understanding of food insecurity. Since then, I’ve worked at various food pantries throughout Atlanta, striving to make a positive impact.
Currently, through the Civic Leadership Program, I am excited to work with The Discovery Program at Peyton Forest Elementary—my childhood school! It’s an honor to provide students with enriching experiences in STEAM, health and fitness, and social-emotional learning. The joy I see on their faces and the experiences that we are giving them motivates me to keep going.
To ensure these vital programs continue to thrive, we need your support. Every donation, big or small, will help create meaningful experiences for our youth. My goal is to raise $1,000 by January 2025. Together, we can nurture our community and provide essential resources that make a lasting difference.
Thank you for considering supporting our mission!
