Empower & Expand: Transforming Alzheimer's Respite Care

At The Tender, we believe in the power of community and the profound impact that compassionate, individualized care can have on individuals and their families who are navigating a dementia diagnosis. With this vision in mind, we are excited to announce the launch of our "Empower & Expand" campaign, aimed at building up our Alzheimer's respite program and enhancing the lives of those affected by this challenging condition.

The Heart of Our Mission

Since 1977, The Tender has been a sanctuary for individuals with Alzheimer's and other dementias, offering a supportive environment where they can find comfort, companionship, joy and purpose. Our social day program has provided much-needed respite for caregivers, allowing them to recharge while knowing their loved ones are in capable, caring hands. In addition since 2007 and the launch of our CARES program The Tender has been committed to helping caregivers navigate our complex healthcare system, resources, referrals, and education.

However, as the need for our services continues to grow, so too must our capacity to serve. This is why we are embarking on the Empower & Expand campaign—to create a larger, more accommodating space that can welcome more members into our community and support more caregivers along their journey!

Expanding Our Footprint

Our primary goal is to expand our physical footprint, enabling us to offer more space for members to join our program. This expansion will not only allow us to serve more individuals but also to enhance the quality of care we provide. By increasing our capacity, we can ensure that everyone who needs our services can access them without delay.

Creating Healing Spaces

Central to our expansion plans are the creation of quiet and sensory rooms. These specially designed spaces will offer serene environments where individuals with Alzheimer's can find peace and relaxation. Sensory rooms, in particular, are proven to help reduce agitation and anxiety, providing a soothing atmosphere that can improve mood and well-being.

Empowering Caregivers

We understand that caring for someone with Alzheimer's and other related dementia's can be both rewarding and challenging. To support the incredible caregivers in our community, we are also dedicated to creating a caregiver consultation and education area as part of our expansion. These spaces will be used to provide education, resources, and one-on-one consultations to empower caregivers and their families with the knowledge and tools they need to provide the best possible care for their loved ones.
