Academy of Media Arts (AMA) has fulfilled its promise of reimagining the educational experience for black and brown scholars through its Gold Standard Buick Institute Project Based Learning curriculum design.

There are many private institutions within the Los Angeles area that do extraordinary work in education. What we believe sets AMA apart is its new state-of-the-art facility, which provides a unique opportunity for black and brown scholars to explore beyond their communities in the epicenter of our city. Scholars not only gain access to a state-of-the-art private school but also have the chance to reside in AMA's dormitories alongside fellow international scholars. This represents a significant step forward, and the launch of the international dormitory is scheduled to launch in the next 24 months. AMA donors have not only ignited a spark but are also playing a pivotal role in narrowing the opportunity gap single-handedly. Exposure and access to the Walt Disney Concert Hall, The Crypto Center, The Broad Museum, Bunker Hill, and the Arts District comprise some of the landscape for our Scholars to learn in at our new prime location at 345 S. Figueroa Street.

Since launching in 2019 with only 33 scholars, we have grown to our highest enrollment of 145 scholars and acquired a revolutionary facility in four short years, despite the COVID-19 pandemic. Additionally, an overwhelming 98% of our Scholars graduated and are attending four-year universities. We can proudly share that each of these graduating Scholars’ academic major is aligned to their gifts and talents. Achieving such an amazing milestone of successfully guiding Scholars on a career pathway during their high school career demonstrates the power of real-world learning.

As the Founder/ CEO it has been my mission and joy to demonstrate to our Scholars and their families what it truly means to endure and overcome insurmountable odds. AMA’s milestone achievements were made possible because of our community of committed parents and Scholars, and our generous donors who share in our desire to see a transformative educational experience for black and brown scholars. AMA’s acquisition of its bespoke facility located at 345 S. Figueroa could not have been possible without the support of our benevolent donors Greg and Jodie Perlman and The Stone Family Fund. These generous humanitarians have lit a fire that will continue to be a beacon that illuminates throughout Downtown Los Angeles with your support.
