I met Maria and the Amor team at a fund raiser shortly after relocating to Charleston in 2020. I was moved by the mission and overwhelmed listening to the amazing stories from all of the people who were involved in the organization. Since joining the Board, I watched the impact we have on the lives of those we serve.... and I realized how fortunate we were to have an organization like Amor in Charleston. Watching my father struggle to prepare his own food for the last few years of his life was difficult. There were so few healthy choices for him, so his diet was horrible. I know he isn't alone. So many like my Dad- whether it's cancer, heart disease, lung disease, diabetes, etc.. - need to have a healthy diet. They may not have the money, the knowledge or the access to good food that can help them heal. That is a huge part of what we do, but there is so much more.
