A Place at the Table

What we do

For over 8 years we have been providing hot meals and necessities to the homeless and those on the margins in downtown Knoxville, TN. Each Monday night, we serve over 100 hot meals, striving to enhance the self-worth and dignity of those we serve.

Some of the people we serve are in a temporary crisis. Others have shelter but do not have the resources to purchase food. Many work but are unable to afford housing. Some are chronically homeless. Our goal is to assuage hunger, realizing that by meeting basic human needs, we also provide mental, social, and emotional support to individuals and families.

We believe that by treating an individual with dignity, we can convey respect for his or her worth as a human being, independent of his or her current circumstances. A positive sense of self -worth empowers individuals to find solutions for themselves.

We Seek Community Organizations, Churches, Ministries, Youth Groups, and Individuals to Help:

Monetary donations
Sock drives
Warm hat drives
Help prepare food on Mondays
Help to serve on Mondays
Donate necessities (toilet paper, shampoo, insect spray, razors, feminine hygiene products, toothbrushes, toothpaste, antibiotic cream, band-aids, etc.)

It is by the kindness and generosity of many friends of A Place at the Table that we can continue this important outreach to our community.

Our volunteers who give of their time and talent selflessly and faithfully are another key component to our success that we cannot do without.
