☀️ Shine a Light on Truth with The American Sunlight Project ☀️

At the American Sunlight Project, we believe that truth is the foundation of a thriving democracy. But in today’s world, disinformation, manipulation, and harmful online campaigns threaten to undermine that foundation.

This year, thanks to supporters like you, we’ve made significant strides in our mission to increase the cost of lies that undermine democracy. We:

• Helped to pass the TAKE IT DOWN Act, giving targets of deepfake sexual abuse a pathway to justice;

• Exposed Russian influence campaigns, including attempts to groom large language models into parroting pro-Kremlin propaganda;

• Held powerful social media platforms like Meta to account as they turned a blind eye to ads for apps harming women and girls;

• Uncovered foreign efforts to undermine climate progress; and

• Called out liars in Congress, and sounded the alarm in the EU and UK parliaments.

These victories are powerful reminders of what we can achieve together. But there is still so much work to be done. As we look to 2026, the threats we face are growing:

• The Trump Administration is overseeing the biggest assault on free expression since the McCarthy era.

• Autocratic regimes continue to weaponize polarization to destabilize democracies.

• Researchers and advocates who fight for truth are under constant attack.

• Deceptive campaigns continue to spread falsehoods, eroding public trust.

At the American Sunlight Project, we need your help to continue this critical fight. This work is not getting easier.
