Alexander was diagnosed with Autism when he was 18 months old. He is now 18 years old and just completed 12th grade at Creekside BOCES. Over the past 18 years it has been a struggle to find ways for Alex to socially interact with peers ,and to have a community that accepts him for who he is and all the challenges that come with having Autism. My husband and I found that community through Autism Up! Our son has participated in several activities/ events at Autism Up during the past several years. We feel welcomed as a family and supported by a great staff. Autism Up is a program that provides much needed services to families that live in the world of Autism- which can seem very isolating and lonely at times. Autism Up has provided our family with a sense of “ normalcy”. We have been able to watch Alex bowling with peers, attend Halloween parties and see him jumping on a trampoline.
