Give Asian American Voters a Voice
The Missouri Asian American Youth Foundation has been on the cutting edge of developing Asian American leaders in Missouri, and helping Missouri youth to advocate for themselves. We do this through civic engagement, community outreach and education, skills building, and advocacy.
After the Atlanta spa shootings in 2021, we started a mental health initiative to address the 500% increase in Asian American anxiety and depression.
We also keep Asian Americans up to date on important policy changes in DC and Jefferson City. This past year, we contacted over 10,000 Asian American voters to go to the polls. In the last 5 years, we have already seen Asian American voter registration double in the state!
This past year, we kicked off a high school student leadership cohort, training young people in civil rights history and community organizing.
Hitting our goal of $2000 pays for a social work graduate student to assist with our mental health and youth leadership program for half a year.
A donation of $20 covers a meal between a student and mentor. As we face the new year, we are grateful for the connections we've made and the youth who inspire us to make Missouri a more welcoming place.
