We learned about 5 Afghan refugee families being temporarily housed in a hotel in Carmel Valley (28 people). Their journeys here have been long and difficult and they are so grateful to be here. 

They have very little except the clothes they're wearing, some in just a pair of flip flops. Their government-funded housing lasts only 3 months so they have a very short amount of time to get on their feet. Some are still waiting for food stamps and other benefits. 

We're asking our amazing community to help 92130 Cares support these refugee families so they can get on their feet. Funds will be used to help them purchase groceries until they receive their food benefits, obtain personal hygiene products, pay for transportation and other needs.
