Giving Tuesday 2025

Jane (a pseudonym) is a mother of four who survived years of violent abuse. After her husband went to jail, she was finally safe—but one fractured ankle and a month of missed rent put her at risk of eviction and facing an unthinkable choice: return to her abuser or lose her home.

This is the reality for many domestic violence survivors. They aren’t choosing abuse—they’re overwhelmed by financial barriers like security deposits, past-due utilities, and one-time emergencies that stand between safety and survival.

Advocates for Victims and Justice, Inc. steps in at these critical moments. We directly pay landlords and utility companies so survivors can stay safe, remain housed and avoid returning to dangerous relationships. Last year alone, we helped more than two dozen victims with urgent financial needs and supported hundreds more through the Toledo/Lucas County Victim-Witness Assistance Program.

This Giving Tuesday, your gift can remove the barrier that keeps a survivor trapped.

A donation of $200 can keep a family housed, restore utilities or help a victim start fresh with safety and dignity.

Join us in protecting the most vulnerable in Lucas County.
Give hope. Give safety. Give today.
