As temperatures climb every summer, Pima County faces rising rates of heat-related illness and deaths—176 recorded in 2023. The unhoused are the most vulnerable population, and there isn't nearly enough publicly available drinking water to meet the growing need. Agua Para el Pueblo is a mutual aid project setting up Community Water Stations across Tucson to provide free drinking water to anyone who needs it.

This started as a pilot project last summer, when mutual aid groups established 13 water stations across town. We’ve relaunched in 2025 as Agua Para el Pueblo and plan to grow until there are stations all over town. We're aiming to triple the number of stations in the Tucson area. To make it work, we need donations from the community!

Your donation supports:

Equipment for new water stations: Each one costs about $175, including the cooler, stand, cable, lock, cup dispenser, and cups.
Reusable water bottles: This is a key component to reduce single use trash and litter in the watershed.
Water and Ice: Most hosts have a supply of water to refill, but some require volunteer delivery.
Heat relief supplies: All summer, mutual aid distributions will supplement the stations by providing sunscreen, cooling bandanas, electrolytes, and more.
