I have been presented with an exciting opportunity to play on a local traveling Girls Flag Football team called East County Valkyrie. The program enables young athletes to learn and play flag football at an elevated level. We are incredibly lucky to have amazing coaches who are willing to donate their time and knowledge to the youth of our community.

One of the many goals of East County Valkyrie is to create a program that allows athletes to participate and grow while keeping costs down. Most current travel programs cost more than $1000 per participant, making it difficult for several of our youth to take part. All our coaches are committed to creating a program that is affordable, but all prices including uniforms, practice facility rental and tournament fees have increased every year. Having this team available to as many athletes as possible is a high priority.

I enjoy this program because the coaches not only teach us how to play the game of football but also instill a passion for how the players should conduct themselves both on the field and in our community. We are taught to respect officials, other players, opponents, coaches, and parents. Our coaches always tell us that "We win and lose with class." These lessons are life lessons that we can use in various facets of our lives for years to come.
