This is the reality for many students in Memphis and the surrounding communities—and it’s a reality we’ve been committed to changing for the last decade.

For students like Jasmine, high school was a daily struggle. Her family faced financial hardship, and she often worried about having enough food and school supplies. Some days, her focus slipped as she thought about the mounting bills her mother was trying to pay. But everything changed when Jasmine connected with a CISM Student Support Specialist.

Through CISM, Jasmine received what she needed most: stability. From essential school supplies to transportation, from meal support to one-on-one mentorship, CISM provided Jasmine with the tools and confidence to focus on her studies and plan for a future she hadn’t dared to imagine. With the support of her specialist and our team, Jasmine is now on her way to college—something that once seemed out of reach.

Over the last 10 years, stories like Jasmine’s have been written again and again. Thanks to the generosity of our community, we’ve been able to help thousands of students stay in school, overcome obstacles, and realize their potential.

In the last decade, Communities In Schools of Memphis has grown to support students across Memphis, Shelby County, and neighboring rural communities. We provide students with the support they need to succeed academically and personally—whether that’s school supplies, mental health resources, or career training that prepares them for life after graduation.

With CISM, students don’t just survive; they thrive. Our team of Student Support Specialists is in schools every day, building relationships and becoming trusted allies for the students we serve. We provide everything from resume workshops and college application guidance to emergency rental support for families in crisis.

Together, we’ve changed lives. And yet, there’s still so much more to do.

As we celebrate this milestone, we’re also looking toward the future—because for every student like Jasmine, there are many more who still need our help.
