A Loving Home for the Most Vulnerable Children

For 39 years, Asociación Nueva Esperanza (ANE) has provided a safe haven, and a family, to children in vulnerable situations throughout Venezuela.

Today, Venezuela is once again relying on ANE's experience. The authorities responsible for the protection of vulnerable children have turned to Asociación Nueva Esperanza to receive and care for children who have been separated from their loved ones and placed at high risk as a result of the earthquakes.

During the 1999 Vargas mudslides, Asociación Nueva Esperanza welcomed 33 children who had been separated from their families. Every child was safely cared for and, once positively identified by the authorities, was reunited with their family.
Today, Venezuelan child protection authorities have once again entrusted Asociación Nueva Esperanzawith receiving and caring for children who have been separated from their loved ones because of the earthquakes.

The Current Situation
While it is still too early to know exactly how many children have been separated from their families, rescue operations and damage assessments are still underway. UNICEF estimates that approximately 680,000 children will require humanitarian assistance. Homes, schools, health facilities, water systems, and other critical infrastructure have been damaged, disrupting essential services and leaving thousands of children and their caregivers at heightened risk.
