Angry Ants Community Chest - General Fund

Note that this is a "catch all" campaign - You likely landed here because of a specific need we posted about on social media, and if that is the case, rest assured, that is what your money will be used for. You also have the option to leave a lil note with your donation to make sure we know where you want it to go in the case of us fundraising for multiple needs at the same time!

If you're looking for the "Keep Folks Warm" campaign, you can find that here

Angry Ants Community Chest is funded by the Angry Ants' board & by their extended community to benefit each of our extended communities. We exist to bridge the gaps in financial support available to folks who are plagued by temporary hardship due to things like illness, jobs loss, & tragedy (this is not an exhaustive list).

The idea here is that everyone needs a little extra push over the "hump" sometimes and we want to be able to support folks during these times without having to add more to their plates (i.e. forcing them to take more time off to sit in a waiting room or on hold so someone can ask them really personal questions and comb through their lives like they're being audited by the IRS for them to likely ultimately be denied support anyway).

Have you ever found yourself in a position where you had to miss work or unexpected expenses popped up and if you just had a little extra help, you could easily get back on track? You may not have qualified for government assistance or programs that could benefit you were "tapped out", which left you in a weird kind of limbo land with seemingly no options. You probably also don't have a rich uncle to call on here because if you did, you probably wouldn't be here in the first place. These little pickles can send someone down a scary path of "well this blows" to "I really hope my kids have food to eat next week" faster than you can imagine.

Some of us (read: most of us) don't have the kinds of connections and resources that guarantee security no matter what, so what would it look like if we all came together to give intentionally and consistently to a pool of community funds so that when one of us is in need, there's no question about whether that need can be met? That's what we're trying to do here at Angry Ants (more on the name later!).

Can you and will you commit to contributing to the Angry Ants Community Chest?

Your contribution will help us build a strong foundation so that we never have to say "no" to a friend in need - Setting up a recurring donation will give our board member a clear vision of what we can safely say "yes" to and maintain the health of the organization.

Nuts & bolts things:

Our board members are here on a volunteer basis and consist of the following: Shannon Kill (Founder), Lekeshia Hicks, Kimberly Shepherd, & Jamey Marina-Williams, with Miyah Byers consulting as able/needed. We currently do not have, nor do we plan to have, any employees so that we can ensure that MOST of the money from your contributions (fees, licensing & operating expenses will always be a thing) can go straight to the people who need it most.

Transparency is a hallmark of Angry Ants, so we will be releasing regular financial reports available publicly on our website. We will also utilize social media to share specific funding needs & update folks on where your donations have gone. Additionally, all board members will have 24/7 admin access to our bank account to ensure accountability.

The safety & privacy of our donors & recipients is of utmost importance, so we will never share identifying information publicly without express consent from the participant.

The board commits to being good stewards of the money that passes through our metaphorical door; a couple of ways we can ensure the financial health of the org are: 1) Never committing to sustained support for any one recipient & 2) Having checks in place to ensure that no one board member is able to make financial decisions without the board's approval & that we never give more than 25% of our overall available funds on to an individual recipient. We also require at least 2 boards members to "sign off" on any giving requests so that none of us have the ability to give your money away all willy nilly. We want you to be able to trust that when you give to the Community Chest, that money will be guarded and well spent on the immediate physical needs of others in your community; you could be them one day!
