Ricardo C. Armendariz has always known how to throw a good party—and rumor has it, he's still dancing on tables at 93! He’s decided that there's absolutely no reason to wait to celebrate his love for animals, community, and a good laugh.

Ricardo Armendariz: Still Cracking Jokes and Saving Pets!

Born in 1931, Ricardo was the beloved class president (and certified class clown) of Bowie High School's legendary Class of 1950. After graduation, he embarked on adventures that included proudly joining the El Paso Police Department and serving his country in the National Guard. Ricardo rose to the rank of Sergeant on an anti-aircraft gun crew. He started as a patrolman with EPPD and worked his way up to detective. After 28 memorable years of chasing down troublemakers and swapping stories with friends, he traded his badge for his current favorite occupation—professional retiree extraordinaire, a role he's been perfecting for over 35 fun-filled years!

In Honor of a Life of Service and Compassion

The Armendariz Family Tribute Fund for Shelter Pets was created to honor the legacy of a beloved father, and retired officer of the El Paso Police Department. For over 28 years, he dedicated his life to protecting the people of this city. His heart, however, was just as devoted to the most vulnerable among us—especially the animals who couldn’t speak for themselves.

In celebration of his 93 remarkable years and the life he’s lived in service to others, this fund supports the rescue, care, and placement of shelter pets in need at El Paso Animal Services.
