Art Place Fund

The historic building at 418 Elm Avenue in East Waco once housed the first Pipkin Drug Store. Later, it was converted into a segregated cinema. Although the structure has stood empty for many years, its strong bones and the green space beside it offer an exciting opportunity for renewal.

With creative vision and community support, this space will be transformed into a vibrant cultural venue. It will host programs such as classic movie nights, lectures, art creation and exhibitions, dance, poetry, and music. More than just a building, it will become a welcoming gathering place where people can spend time together in a safe environment, engage with the arts, and celebrate the spirit of community.

ArtPlace will be a community arts hub focusing on arts education for youth, community arts, music, film workshops, and events with a public art space.

ArtPlace will be a key part of the resurgence of Elm Avenue, using the arts to make a more livable community through this extraordinary multi-cultural experience.
