A Home for Nabirye and Shafiga
Ugandan single mother Shafiga and her daughter Nabirye have weathered significant troubles in their young lives. Fortunately, they were rescued from the streets by a kindly guardian when Nabirye was an infant, who shared her home until the older woman passed away earlier this year of diabetes complications. The woman's two daughters offered to sell the house and the land immediately around it to Shafiga. One donor has made initial payments, bringing the remaining goal of this fundraiser down to $945. With your assistance now, Shafiga and Nabirye will own a secure roof over their heads for years to come. In addition, Shafiga completed training as a hairdresser in 2025 and established her own business this year. She will "pass on the gift" of their home at $1.25/week to our Ugandan counterpart's Byonabyangu Community Empowerment Foundation. Our combined gift of this home will thus provide the capital for a continuing microloan fund for many entrepreneurial projects on the ground in eastern Uganda.
