AALEAD: Empowering AAPI Youth

AALEAD has worked to empower AAPI youth in underserved communities through culturally responsive programming and advocacy for over 25 years. Founded in 1998 by Ms. Sandy Dang to initially serve the large Vietnamese refugee population in the District, AALEAD has spearheaded meaningful impact for the AAPI community in the DMV. Sandy Dang's vision was to create and grow a community organization that belonged to the community. The rest is history!

With changes in demographics over the years in the region, AALEAD now serves a multi-ethnic Asian community. In 2006, AALEAD expanded to serve low-income and underserved Asian Pacific American youth in middle and high schools across Montgomery County, MD. AALEAD officially launched in Fairfax County, VA, in March 2014. Today, AALEAD is led by Executive Director, Siu Cheung Rossmark, to continue its powerful work with AAPI youth through our free After-School, Mentoring, and Summer Programs that focus on Education Empowerment, Identity Development, and Leadership.
