ASSA will begin phased re-entry to support our highest need scholars in March. We will bring small cohorts of scholars back on campus, equipping each student with their own sets of materials to fully engage in curriculum and support the learning needs for our scholars that need some additional support. School will look very different — students can no longer share classroom supplies, and safety standards have been revamped entirely. Please consider spreading your love by making a donation. Your contribution will support our continued work to provide the best support for all of our scholars.

We are committed to increased student engagement in the classroom, student study trips to open their minds and eyes to a broader scope of the world, and foster a community that supports post secondary plans for all students. We would like to provide some of the following things to our scholars as well:

  • classroom libraries
  • materials to send home for students to engage in hands-on, culturally relevant, project based learning
  • gear to promote school provide and a sense of belonging which is paramount for middle school students

We started this year with 6th grade ONLY but we will add new 6th graders each year until we are a full 6-12 site. Our educational program is rooted in equitable and culturally relevant instructional and social emotional practices to ensure that all students experience a sense of joy and belonging as they engage in our rigorous academic program. Our school’s Mission and Vision statements are as follows:

Vision: We, as a community, believe that scholars who are strong and centered in their culture can and will use their strengths to navigate and eradicate the systemic barriers they face as they journey to and through college.

Mission: ASSA’s mission is to work together as a community to teach and support the students and families of our community. We will offer a high-quality educational experience for our scholars in order to:

  • Increase student achievement for all students
  • Monitor progress to ensure all students are performing at grade level or beyond
  • Build a strong school environment where families are partners in the work of educating children
  • Give each scholar what they need to succeed educationally and personally

Student Mission:

As a scholar, I will fully engage and positively interact with the people who support me while on my journey to and through college. I will know, understand and appreciate my community as they work with me to:

  • Be strong and centered
  • Be academically and socially conscious
  • Be excellent in ALL my endeavors

Student mantra:

“I understand who I am, I understand where I am from, I understand where I want to go and I understand what it takes to get there.”
