Welcome to the Black Artists Archive (BAA), a transformative initiative spearheaded by Dr. Kelli Morgan, a renowned curator, educator, and social justice activist with over a decade of experience in American art, history, and museum practices. Dr. Morgan has tirelessly advocated for centering Black experiences within traditional museum and archival settings, challenging institutional norms, and fostering anti-racist approaches in the art world.

Mission

The Black Artists Archive applies the histories of self-sustained Detroit Black artists and artist collectives to create a safe, dynamic space for artists, arts professionals, collectors, and enthusiasts dedicated to the creation, exhibition, and preservation of Black art history & visual culture.

Our vision is to transform human lives by presenting Black visual culture in ways that dismantle the conventional functions of the archive, the exhibition, and traditional art history.
