Moose's Vet Bill

Meet Moose, a brave and tiny two-year-old pug who came into the Stockton shelter after being hit by a car. His owners were notified, but they couldn’t afford the medical care he needed, so they never came to pick him up. The shelter reached out to us, hoping we could give him a chance. Thanks to their team, Moose was transported straight to our vet for emergency surgery.

Moose underwent an FHO (femoral head osteotomy) after breaking his hip joint. This procedure removes the ball and neck of the femur, allowing a “false joint” to form so he can move comfortably again. He was also neutered while under anesthesia, giving him the fresh start he deserves.

We named him Moose (’tis the season), and he’s now on strict crate rest, even if he doesn’t love it. He’s expected to walk on all fours again, though his injured leg may end up slightly shorter or have a reduced range of motion. The good news is it shouldn’t affect his ability to live a full, happy life!

This Giving Tuesday, we’re asking for your help. Your donations make it possible for us to say “yes” when shelters call with urgent cases like Moose. Every dollar goes toward medical care, recovery, and giving dogs a second chance. Moose’s veterinary bill cost $1,608.98.

Moose is healing because of people who believe in rescue. Will you help us save the next one?
