Tribe’s Herstory

The Black Girl Tribe is a non profit organization dedicated to the betterment of Black Girls and the global community. We strive to change the narrative so our girls not only survive black girlhood, but THRIVE in it. 

Founded September 17, 2018, we have an active base of over 500 girls, with members ranging from 5-25 in elementary schools and Universities nationwide. Our flagship program is The Formation Conference where we bring girls ages 12-18 from all over the country together for 7 days in Washington DC. We are also well known for our SIHLE Program- a CDC evidence based curriculum, in the DC, MD and VA area with hopes to expand nationwide. 

For almost a decade, The Formation Conference has been a beacon of empowerment, bringing together Black Girls from every corner of the diaspora. Our mission? To learn, to honor, and to celebrate Black Girlhood. Over the years, this transformative gathering has welcomed over 800 participants into our extraordinary TRIBE and Village, creating a sisterhood that resonates with history and purpose.

This summer, we are overjoyed to announce the triumphant return of The Formation Conference. It's going to be STELLAR!!

Why? because every star in the sky was once a dream in formation. 

 STELLAR 2025 is not just a conference; it’s a launchpad for greatness. For one extraordinary week, Black Girls from across the nation will gather at the iconic Howard University to discover their power, unlock their potential, and take their place as leaders in a world waiting for their light.
