Founded in 1985 as the Topeka AIDS Project, Positive Connections has been serving the people of Northeast Kansas for 40 years. What began as a grassroots movement of compassion during the height of the HIV/AIDS crisis has grown into the state’s oldest and most trusted HIV service organization.

Today, we serve 17 counties across Northeast Kansas, offering medical case management, inclusive education, and prevention services. Our staff brings over 30 years of combined experience in HIV case management, and our prevention team includes a passionate youth community leader and professionals with extensive knowledge of STIs, supported by ongoing training to stay current and effective.

We are also the only nonprofit in Kansas providing free HIV and STI testing along with a mobile testing unit—meeting people where they are, both physically and emotionally.

With our main office in Topeka and a satellite office in Manhattan, we ensure broader access to care across the region. Our Manhattan office is staffed full-time with a dedicated HIV case manager, providing personalized support to clients in the surrounding area.

Our Topeka location is more than just an office; it’s a safe, welcoming, and judgment-free space where people can ask questions, get tested, and receive compassionate support. With services like walk-in Testing Tuesdays and personalized education packets, Positive Connections continues to break down barriers to care and build lasting trust—one person, one conversation, one connection at a time.
