Boston SCORES was founded to close the opportunity gap for students in Boston, using soccer and enrichment activities as powerful tools for change. While soccer is played across economic classes internationally, the sport in the United States is largely organized around a “pay to play” model, requiring families to shoulder equipment costs, travel expenses, club fees, and more. Gaps in access to play quickly become gaps in health, leaving youth at greater risk for chronic disease and mental health challenges.

Through SCORES, students can join a free soccer team at their school. After practice, they move with their teammates from the pitch to the classroom, where they take part in hands-on lessons tailored to their interests. They experience the benefits of physical activity, positive relationships with peers and coach-mentors, and emerge empowered to make positive changes in their lives and communities. We created the Boston SCORES Advisory Council with the understanding that fundraising, alongside a growing program base, takes time, relationships, and resources. The Advisory Council is comprised of dedicated professionals across Greater Boston who are committed to our mission and to building a better future for the students we serve.
