Wire the Lot, Light the Park

Why this matters
A grassy vacant lot on 15th Street has sat empty for years while neighborhood teens dream of tech careers they rarely see. The Big Bang Foundation now owns that lot, and we’re turning that open patch into the nation’s first Micro AI Park—a solar-powered, 24/7 STEM playground where kids can code, print in 3-D, record podcasts, and stay safe after dark.

Phase One goal: $7,000 by June 15
Your gift funds the groundwork—literally.

  • $4,500 → purchases two recycled shipping containers that will become the AI Lab and Creative Studio.

  • $2,500 → pours the concrete pads, utility trenching, and anchor bolts—so the containers arrive level, safe, and ready for wiring.

Every dollar in Phase One unlocks Phase Two (solar array, AI kiosks, and community garden).

What your gift does right now

  • $70 buys one square foot of foundation—your “name” goes into the builder’s log.

  • $250 funds a whole corner footing and gets you a VIP hard-hat tour.

  • Any amount moves us closer to flipping the first switch.

See the build happen
We’ll post weekly photos and live-stream container delivery day, so you watch the lot transform in real time. Give today—help us buy the boxes, pour the slab, and prove that big ideas can start on a little patch of grass.

Together we’ll wire the lot and light the park for 150 Cedar Rapids youth this summer.
