In creating this year’s play, The Roots We Follow, students in grades 2-6 are gaining an understanding of how reciprocal relationships with the earth can offer a way forward towards ecological restoration and slowing or stopping climate disaster. They are already articulating their own ideas about gratitude, reciprocity, consumerism, interconnectedness, and “becoming native” to a place. As Robin Wall Kimmerer writes in Braiding Sweetgrass, “All flourishing is mutual,” and we will bring this theme to the support, the content, and the production of this piece!
