Baby Bowie the Kitten

Meet baby Bowie! This little guy joined the AARF adoption program just a little over a week ago. He is just a little, tiny guy and is facing some serious health issues.

Over the last few days, Bowie has struggled with severe diarrhea and dehydration. He hasn't wanted to eat or play much either. with tiny kittens like this, their condition can go from bad to worse very quickly. So yesterday, we took Bowie to the emergency clinic, where he was diagnosed with a severe case of coccidia and roundworms. Both are treatable and we hope he will start feeling better soon. The morning report from the ER vet is that he is doing much better, including eating and talking a lot to get their attention!

Emergency vet hospitals aren't cheap, but we know little Bowie is worth it! His bill is estimated to be around $2500, not including ongoing medications and rechecks.

Can you make a donation today to help us cover Bowie's ER visit? Every dollar helps Bowie on his healing journey!

UPDATE (June 12) - Baby Bowie is slowing improving, but a vet visit today unfortunately revealed that he is still battling coccidia. What is coccidia? It's a nasty little "microscopic protozoan parasite of the gastrointestinal tract" that causes severe diarrhea and dehydration.

Bowie is taking his meds like a big boy, but he still has a long way to go before he's better. We are grateful for all of you who have already donated toward his emergency room visit. We couldn't help kittens like Bowie without you.

UPDATE (July 8) - Bowie is continuing to improve. His latest vet visit showed no visible signs of coccidia, but his little body is still trying to recover from the devastating effects the parasite took on him. He isn't yet growing the way he should, but he does love to eat! And he is finally learning how to play like a real kitten. We are hopeful that Bowie has turned the corner and is on the right track!

UPDATE (July 24) - Bowie has been diagnosed with FIP. This once fatal disease now has a treatment available with a 85%+ cure rate. Can you help us get Bowie the treatment he needs?

_____________________

UPDATE (September 10) - Bowie is halfway through his FIP treatment and making GREAT progress. He still has 6 weeks to go and we need your help to get him to the finish line!

UPDATE (September 30) - Bowie continues to make good progress, but is now on ONE more medication to help get his GI system healthy. His most recent bloodwork came back great, as most of the indicators for FIP are now back in the normal range. But, as you know, he came to us with a TERRIBLE digestive system. He has defeated coccidia and roundworms and now we are finally able to treat his Clostridium infection. We are hoping this will be the last parasite we have to battle!

We still haven't reached our goal to pay for his initial ER visit, and his medical bills continue to grow. Anyone who has met Bowie knows that this little bugger is totally worth EVERY penny. But we need your help to keep up with his medical bills. Can you make a donation today to get us to our goal?
