The Barron Golden Bears Football program is seeking your support to bring the best experience possible to our student-athletes. We are seeking donations for items that will enhance our program both from a safety and performance perspective. Football is an expensive sport to field a team. It can cost upwards of $2,500 to properly equip a player for the season. This doesn't start to cover travel costs, team meals, and additional practice equipment/tools.

This year we are specifically fundraising for several needs that we see as critical to player safety and performance. We hope that you can see the importance of these items to make our football program the safest and highest-performing program possible.

We need to raise money to pay for our Hudl account. Currently, we need help paying for Sideline, Playtools, and Assist. Sideline allows us to view film in real-time on the sideline and make in-game adjustments. This costs $1500. Playtools allows us to quickly create playbooks, scout cards week to week, and installs week to week. This costs $200. Assist allows us to send our film to analysts and they enter basic information for us so that we can break down our opponents quicker. This can save us upwards of 4-6 hours on a Saturday for our coaches. We already have a small coaching staff and this feature essentially fills two staff positions. This costs $700. We have to use fundraising to help pay for our Hudl subscription with and without these features.

Items we wish to purchase for the programs are as follows:

Guardian Caps: These helmet shells are mandated by the NFL for the 2023 season for all team activities including helmets outside of games. They have been shown to help dissipate force upon impact in the head and neck area when worn. This is particularly important for Offensive and Defensive Linemen who experience more small but repeated impacts in practice. We see these as an important accessories for the longevity of our athletes' health over the course of their time in the program. They cost $70 each.

Q-Collars: These are revolutionary wearable technology that has been approved by the FDA to help protect the brain from injury from repetitive head impacts. This technology was developed to be an added layer of protection for military personnel and impact athletes. The technology works by applying jugular compression to help protect the brain from within rather than just the outside like in helmets. The brain can be injured on impact when the brain bounces back and forth inside the skull. The Q-Collar applies light pressure which increases blood volume in the skull, leading to a reduction in "brain slosh" or the brain forcibly hitting the skull. Clinical studies have shown an 83% decrease in brain injuries when worn during impact.

GPS Wearable Technology: We are looking to purchase wearable GPS technology through Catapult. This allows us to look at data throughout the season to better gauge wear our athletes are in terms of recovery and strain as the season progresses. This will help us reduce injury throughout the season and better plan our practices to maximize our athletes' potential on Friday nights.

2-Man Sled: We are in dire need of a new 2-man sled for blocking and tackling drills. Our current sleds are in really rough shape and are potentially unusable. This is a basic need that allows us to work on fundamentals throughout the course of camp and the season.

Sideline Jackets: We want to look as much like a unified team as possible. As the weather turns colder late in the season, many players brought their own blankets or coats to wear on the sideline of games. We are looking for support to purchase team sideline jackets that are both better suited for cold weather games and help us look like a team and not a group of individuals. Quality jackets cost anywhere between $125 to $150 each.

We also just need help purchasing new helmets and shoulder pads. Helmets today are very expensive. Safe, quality helmets cost anywhere between $500 and $700. Shoulder pads that are safe and effective can run as much as $350. We want to ensure that our student-athletes have the highest quality gear for their safety.

Additional donations will go towards helping support our athletes who are economically challenged and cannot afford our military appreciation jerseys or our player packs. Any and all help is appreciated!

Our athletes come first in our program. We want to ensure that they have the best experience possible over their time in our program. This starts with their safety and equipment first. We appreciate any and all support you are able to provide to our players.
