What is Bayanihan?
Bayanihan refers to the Filipino spirit of communal unity, work, and cooperation to achieve a particular goal. Bayanihan is more than a word; it is an essence engrained in the Filipino culture to help their fellow kababayans in time of need.
Inspiration for Logo
Designed by Board of Director Dr. Raymund L. Liongson, the "Bayanihan for Maui" logo is represented by pre-hispanic Philippine characters (baybayin or alibata) ba and ma for Bayanihan and Maui (pink color representing Maui), locked together, signifying the collaboration between the O`ahu and Maui communities. The “ba” character which happens to have the shape of a heart signifies the empathy and compassion for the survivors of the Lahaina wildfires.
