Beatrice Irwin is a dear friend and former employee of CAC. She served in the CAC Homeward Bound Families in Need program for 12 years (2007--2019). In her work she helped Knoxville's most vulnerable citizens. She provided outreach and case management to families with children who were living in homeless shelters, streets, or hotels. She was steadfast in seeing her clients through their journeys from beginning to end. No matter how many setbacks they faced, she kept walking right along beside of them. Beatrice is best known for her incredible patience. She is also known to have a happy, gentle, patient and optimistic spirit.

Beatrice humbly asks that you support the Pillow project in her honor.

The CAC is a public agency serving the citizens of Knoxville and Knox County’s low to moderate income families, the unemployed and underemployed, persons with disabilities, and other individuals with special need for services. Community Action changes people’s lives, embodies the spirit of hope, improves communities and makes America a better place to live.

The Pillow Project is a CAC program that assists families, individuals, youth, and seniors who have recently experienced homelessness who are going into permanent housing. This project would not be possible without donations from our community and collaboration between local churches and organizations.

Please help formerly homeless households achieve stability in permanent housing by helping to provide essential household items that many of us take for granted (like hygiene, cleaning supplies, cookware, and bedding).

When homeless individuals and families are able to obtain housing, most have absolutely nothing with which to:

-SLEEP ON
-PREPARE MEALS
-CLEAN WITH
-BATHE WITH

Costs to set up a first time home can get expensive fast--even when you make low-cost choices on a budget. Your support helps people focus their income on making rent and keeping the lights on. It also provides a welcoming and peaceful home.
