"Love Letters to Ukraine from Uyava"

(Любовні листи до України від Уяви)

A finalist at the 2023 International Book Awards presented by American Book Fest, is a bilingual poetry collection written in English by Kalpna Singh-Chitnis and translated into Ukrainian by Volodymyr Tymchuk. It comprises 66 wartime poems centered on the current Russia-Ukraine armed conflict. The entire collection was written and translated in real-time within just eight weeks.

American Veterans

Giovanni Roman, a Marine Corps veteran.

He was volunteering as a combat medic in Ukraine and has been severely injured by Russian Forces. Roman first joined the Ukrainian war effort in the summer of 2022. In early February, when his Humvee was allegedly struck by a Russian-held RPG. Roman suffered significant injuries, including losing his right eye, as well as a traumatic brain injury.

Jon Frank, the father of U.S. Marine Veteran Ian “Frank” Tortorici of Lake Forest.

His son was killed on June 27 by Russian forces while off duty. Tortorici, 32, quietly joined Ukraine’s International Legion soon after the Russian Federation invaded Ukraine last February.

We provide humanitarian aid, medical supplies, and clothing to refugees directly affected by the war in Ukraine. Additionally, we supply the Ukrainian frontline defenders and supporters with necessary medical supplies and protective tactical equipment to save their lives while protecting their families and country. Creating cultural experiences within our monthly events is essential to keeping Ukrainian culture alive among Ukrainians in the United States and enriching Americans' lives by connecting them with the Ukrainian community and sharing art, music, and tradition. We are looking toward the future of a Brighter Ukraine by physically rebuilding cities and communities while sharing the beautiful Ukrainian culture.
