Starting October 1, 2025 refugee families have been cut off from state food assistance (SNAP). This means that families and individuals who escaped violence and persecution are being placed under greater pressure as they work hard to rebuild their lives in a new country.

We are fundraising for four months of food support for two families in Bennington who need additional support. An Afghan family of six and a South Sudanese family of three. These families include children ages 11, 9, 6, and 3. While adults in these families look for stable work, your support will ensure that these families have the money they need for food.

$20 (gives one month of breakfasts for one)
$30 (gives one month of lunches for one)
$50 (gives one month of suppers for one)
$80 (gives 4 months of breakfasts for one)
$100 (gives one month of 3 meals for one)
$120 (gives 4 months of lunches for one)
$200 (gives 4 months of suppers for one)
$300 (gives one month of 3 meals a day for a family of 3)
$400 (gives 4 months of 3 meals a day for one)
$600 (gives one month of 3 meals a day for a family of 6)

People who arrive with refugee status are eligible to work from the day they arrive in the United States which means that many families are now working and paying taxes to support these state programs that they can no longer access. Additionally, many families are unable to access food they need - halal meat or other necessary specialty foods - from local food pantries. Please consider donating generously to ensure that these families have the food they need this winter.
