As much as the grit, commitment, love, and hard work is innate in the people of Davis Magnet School, we can’t do it without the financial support of the families. Making a donation to the Foundation is a tax-deductible way you can help make sure your child has access to the best learning resources and keeps Davis the amazing school it is.

What is Big Bucks For Ducks?

It is one of two primary fundraisers that you can donate to that is supported by the Davis Magnet School Education Foundation. At the beginning of every school year, we ask each family to make a donation to the Big Bucks for Ducks fundraiser. All funds raised go directly to the school and are used to support the needs of the students, teachers, and staff.

How much do I need to donate to the Foundation?

A donation of $200 per student will help us to meet this year’s goal of raising $100,000. We ask that you think about what your best gift is and contribute what you can. Maybe it’s more than $200/student, maybe it’s less, but every donation helps. Donations can be made in one lump sum or divided into smaller amounts paid on a monthly basis to spread out the cost.

We also accept donations from company matching programs and encourage you to send a link to this page to friends, family, and neighbors who are interested in supporting your child’s education and helping us to meet our goal. Remember all donations are tax-deductible!!

What is the difference between the Davis Magnet School Education Foundation and the PTA?

The Davis Magnet School Education Foundation supports the school by funding programs that significantly contribute to the educational experience of the students. Each year, the Foundation provides the school with around $85,000 in financial support to fund items such as:

The salaries of supplementary teachers
Thousands of dollars for teaching supplies (so teachers don’t have to spend their own money)
Shirts and equipment for the music program
Equipment and tournament fees for the robotics program
Enhancing Educational Software programs that are only partially funded by the district
PE Equipment
Campus murals
Professional Development for Teachers
And many other items such as furniture, cables and cords, clean drinking water, boxes, shelves, computer equipment, and so much more!

The PTA is a more visible organization running multiple fundraisers along with free social and community programs. The PTA is behind such events as the book fair, movie nights, school dances, the jog-a-thon, and Trunk-or-Treat. They offer many events and support several school activities with their fundraising. In addition to contributing to an overall positive learning environment, the PTA helps enhance the overall fun of the Davis experience.

Can I just donate to the PTA or the Foundation? Do I have to do both?

The Foundation and the PTA are both important organizations that help fund the school. If you are able to donate to both, we ask that you please do as the funds are vital to enhance the experiences of all children at Davis.

BBFD Grade Level Competition Rules:

All donations for the competition must be made by 11:59pm Nov. 1, 2023. However, we do gladly accept donations all year long.
All donations may not be reflected on the BBFD website, such as cash or check donations. These donations will be tracked and account for.
Monthly recurring donations are fantastic. However, only the donations made by 11:59pm Nov. 1, 2023 will count towards the competition.
We love corporate matching! For the grade level competition, any matching amounts will only count towards the competition if the check is in our posession or the bank transfer has already posted in the foundation bank account by 11:59pm Nov. 1, 2023. Grants also count towards the competition.
All grade levels, including preschool, are included.
The grade level with the highest amount fundraised by Nov. 1, 2023 will be the overall winner.
Any grade may win prizes if their grade level total reaches any of the prize levels. Prizes are cumulative. For example, any grade achieving $10,000 in donations will win the $10k prize and all the prizes below it. If they are the top fundraising grade, they would also win the pizza party and prize money.
If there is a tie for the winner, all winning grades will receive the pizza party and the prize money will be split evenly.
